ICC Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is there a prerequisite or pre-approval
for taking the exam?
As of August 1, 2006, all applicants may call LaserGrade
directly to register for an exam at 800-211-2754. Pre-authorization
from the ICC is not needed.
2. Where can I obtain study materials?

UST exams:
Call the ICC Order Department at 1-800-284-4406
3. Is there a practice test available?
Currently, there is not a practice test for
this exam.
4. What materials may I bring into the test
center?
Contractor exams:
You are allowed, in most cases, to bring in your codebooks.
You may also be supplied with a Tectonic Plans book.
UST exams: None.
The testing centers will supply the CA UST Exam References
5. How long do I have to pass the test?
Contractor exams:
You have 60 days from your approval date to register for and
attempt your Certification Exam.
UST exams:
You can attempt the test two times in a six-month period
6. Can I see which questions I answered
incorrectly?
Your test report form will show a Low, Medium
or High score for each exam section.
7. If I fail the exam, how long do I have to
wait before retesting? Will
I have to pay to retest?
Contractor exams:
Please call LaserGrade at
800-211-2754 to register for a re-take.
UST exams:
You can attempt the test two times in a six-month
period
8. If I miss my appointment, do I have to
pay again to reschedule?
If you do not give 24-hours notice, you will
forfeit your test fee.
You will be required to pay the exam fee again to reschedule.
